Time waits for no one!

Times waits for on one – I’m sure that everyone has come across these words somewhere in their life! Time certainly does not wait for anyone… time is ticking, the day is here, the sun is rising, the sun is setting, days past, months past and so do years. If you miss a day, then you missed it! Yesterday will be the past and you have to make everything from tomorrow.

I want to share my favourite lyrics with you, written and sang by the famous Rolling Stones. The first time I’ve heard these words, I was only 8 years old listening to my Dad’s music sheets.

Yes, star crossed in pleasure the stream flows on by
Yes, as we’re sated in leisure, we watch it fly

And time waits for no one, and it won’t wait for me
And time waits for no one, and it won’t wait for me

Time can tear down a building or destroy a woman’s face
Hours are like diamonds, don’t let them waste

Time waits for no one, no favours has he
Time waits for no one, and he won’t wait for me

Men, they build towers to their passing yes, to their fame everlasting
Here he comes chopping and reaping, hear him laugh at their cheating

And time waits for no man, and it won’t wait for me
Yes, time waits for no one, and it won’t wait for me

Drink in your summer; gather your corn
The dreams of the night time will vanish by dawn

And time waits for no one, and it won’t wait for me
And time waits for no one, and it won’t wait for me

No no no, not for me….

True words… Time flies away. If you have a dream then start making plans and have objectives to start living your dream – because “the dreams of the night time will vanish by dawn”. Before you know it, you may have lost your dream and there is no time left. Live everyday as if it is your last day on earth. Do everything and accomplish everything you want to do – don’t leave it till the next day – it might be too late.

Time is ticking; therefore you should use it wisely. Call your love ones and tell them that you love them! Visit your family whenever you can! Don’t leave these things till the very last minute of your busy life. One of your loved ones might just pass away and then it’s then when it is too late to say “I love you” or “I’ll visit you”!

Time waits for no one… not even for you!

Andy Warhol: “In the future everybody will be world famous for fifteen minutes.” You can’t choose the 15 minutes but why would you be world famous?

World famous for 15 minutes…

Mmm, I can’t choose my 15 minutes of world famous, but why would I like to be world famous?

I think once you got the fame, you don’t really know how to react on it. If I think of some famous people, I think of them as snobby people. People that only care about themselves and their reputation. They are so full of themselves, make a lot of money and certainly think they are the best. I think our current celebrity culture is a travesty. People get media attention for everything from their athletic prowess to their willingness to eat spiders on a reality TV show, and the more outrageous they act the more attention they receive. It is ridiculous!

Of course, imagine all the free designer clothes, handbags, accessories and goodie bags worth thousands; preferential treatment and of course, scads of money all sound wonderful and glamorous! But is that the only reason to be famous? Well, if that is the only reason then I don’t want to be famous!

For me to be famous could be an opportunity to help others. I could help others fulfil their dreams, donate money to an orphanage and the unprivileged, and even give someone else the chance of being 15 minutes famous. If I could be famous for 15 minutes, I want to use it to make a difference in someone else’s life.

If you receive your 15 minutes of fame, do you really want to waste yours making a fool of yourself on some reality TV show or in a lame, filthy magazine gossip story?

Benefiting others in life!

Whenever I receive my 15 minutes of world fame, I hope that it will be 15 minutes of fame where I am benefiting others and not benefiting myself!

Winter’s Closet

Winter is the coldest season of the year, but also the season to fashion up your closet with fuzzy, snowy and warming clothes and coats. To warp up for winter does not mean that you should stop looking fabulous. Yes, it’s cold outside. With winter comes cheery things like hot chocolate, cocoa, crackling fires and puppies in coats. With this chilly weather comes bundled up, hyper-layered outfits and furry coats.

Fashion trends this winter will let you retain a bit of glam – while also staying warm – and with versatility, there’s something to suit all styles and body shapes. Winter doesn’t mean that you can’t dress classy, classic and sexy. With fall and winter coming, perhaps your wardrobe needs a bit of updating? A hat made a huge comeback this year. So match a hat with an outfit – it makes a huge difference too.

A manlike outfit is very classy, with the hat.

The fuzzy leopard skinned boots…

A cosy, fluffy and fury coat can be absolutely fabulous.

Enjoy the winter time with a fabulous fashion closet…

A skill set called leadership

Some people are born to lead and some have to be taught to lead. Leadership is one of the most valuable skills you can have or be taught. Leadership is about having influence so people can follow you. A leader cannot lead if there are no followers and there can’t be followers without a leader. Also the followers need to trust their leader.

I believe that leadership is truly a very important skill, and as a B-Tech Student I am learning about manager roles, leadership skills and their functions within an organisation. Learning about people, cultures, race, organisational functions etc all leads to understanding them and how to act as a manager or leader. Through the function of monitoring the media and how to go about filtering through research and endless literature reviews, all ties in to function as a manager and to lead a team in the company.

The influence that a leader has can either be positive or negative. As we know there are great leaders that led people to destruction. Looking at leaders like Nelson Mandela, Helen Zille, Oprah Winfrey etc, are leaders who had/have great power to influence their followers. Not everyone is leaders, rather meant to be followers.

Leadership is a great skill to have, however there are people who confuse threatening or bullying people with leadership. Followers willingly abide with instructions given by their leaders and believe what their leader is saying to be correct. Leaders are strong people who know how to lead and what skill to put forward at what time. In order to be a good leader you must be extremely good with people and you must understand their needs and abilities. When you choose to be a leader, you take on a lot of responsibility. However, you have to believe in yourself!

Not everyone has the ability to be a leader, but to have the ability to lead you need some useful tools. Also as future Public Relations Managers, we need to acquire the basic leadership skill.

Leadership includes:
– A hard worker
– Motivating
– A good role model
– Confident in what you’re doing
– A good listener
– Understanding
– Accepting defeat
– Team work

Leadership is a skill

Procrastination … can maybe be a hobby!

Procrastination … a long word … which means the longer you put your tasks aside … the more the becomes! The more you procrastinate, the more it becomes a hobby! A very bad hobby!

Mmm… what is procrastination? Procrastination is a habit of putting tasks off to the last possible minute, which can become a major problem in both your career and your personal life. It is not good for you to leave any of your work or tasks to the last minute … it is not a good habit.

I sometimes procrastinate and then when I realize that time has come to do the work … jip, then I start stressing and losing focus, because I realize that there is a load of work with limited time. Procrastination can have side effects such as missed opportunities, frenzied work hours, stress, overwhelming, resentment, and guilt.

However, procrastination not only happens because we are lazy or too tired, but rather because we are overwhelmed with other things and work, and that we just have too much on our plate. But then it means we don’t do time management… oops! Time management is very important and can therefore help to overcome procrastination.

Plan your day, make a to-do-list and list the things that are most important first. Also tick off on your to-do-list once finished with a task. Make your tasks goals and try to achieve them everyday.

“Rock journalism is people who can’t write interviewing people who can’t talk for people who can’t read.” (Frank Zappa)

Frank Zappa

The most outrageously funny quotation that I know of was spoken by the musician Frank Zappa:

“Rock journalism is people who can’t write interviewing people who can’t talk for people who can’t read.”

Firstly, let’s break down the quote of Frank Zappa:

–          The rock journalists are people who can’t write

–          They are interviewing their type of rock people, who can’t talk

–          For their type of rock target audience who can’t read.

I was really grabbed by this quote of Frank Zappa, and I guess this quote can also have many different meanings. There are so much different types of music such as classic, jazz, country, Afrikaans, rock, metal, opera, etc. Music is an art form whose medium is sound and silence. Music speaks to the soul and what is a soul without music?

All most everyone can listen to music, but music also has its own language and not everyone can understand or read the music language. If you cannot understand the language, then you cannot translate it and therefore cannot write about it, talked about it or read about it.

Music is powerful, and only a few people are born to understand music – especially rock music. Yes, most or some rockers drink, smoke and do drugs. They use foul language, even in their music and they have sex with their groupies in the back of their vans … but they make excellent music and even became legends of the time.

Rock music is different to other music and thus Rock Star interviews should be different to normal or sophisticated interviews. Rock Stars understand Rock Journalist who understands Rock Audiences! But if you want to become a Rock Journalist who want to try and interview people who can’t talk to be able to write to people who can’t read … then read the following written by Mithilaum in 2008 – the’ Ten Commandments of Rock Journalism’. This can be useful tips.

1.       Know your music

2.       Know your metal

3.       Be open to all forms of metal

4.       It is not just the riff

5.       Listen/Watch/Read before you write

6.       Have your say

7.       Be You

8.       Prepared to be hammered and hammer back

9.       Go against the rules

10.     Just be Metal

Rock Music definitely rock in it’s own way!

Having Faith….

Always have faith

People always tell me to have Faith and never to lose it. Well firstly I want to discuss what faith is. Faith is to hope for things which are not seen, but which are true, and that must be centered in Jesus-Christ in order to produce salvation.

To have faith is to have confidence in something or someone. Sometimes we lose that confidence and then that’s when we lose our faith too! If you possess yourself fully in all the attributes of love, knowledge, justice, mercy, unchangeableness, power, and every other needful thing – you have faith.

Faith is a principle of action and of power, and by it one can command the elements and / or heal the sick, or influence any number of circumstances when occasion warrants. It is important not lose your faith, because then you can lose yourself too. By faith one can obtain a remission of sins and actually can stand in the presence of God.

Sometimes we think we have faith, but actually it is not true faith. True faith must be based upon correct knowledge or it cannot produce the desired results in one’s life. True faith always moves its possessor to some kind of physical and mental action, and therefore you can hope for things and believe in things. If you lack faith, it can lead one to despair, which comes because of iniquity.

Faith is a gift, but it must be cultured and sought and it must first grow from a tiny seed to a great tree. Where there is true faith there are miracles, visions, dreams, healings, and all the gifts of God that he gives to his saints.

Have faith and everything will turn out to be good. Also remember not to lose your faith at any stage when things get hectic. Keep believing and hold that faith close to your heart and soul!!!!
